At ēllu, we take your privacy very seriously and will only request permissions when you access a feature that requires them. Permissions are essential for the app to function properly. Without them, some features may not be available or may not work as intended.
Below, we explain why we request each permission and why it is important that you grant it:
Notifications: we ask your permission to send you notifications once you have downloaded ēllu.
REASON: so that we can efficiently communicate improvements and communications that will help you in your day-to-day use of ēllu.
Camera: we ask for your camera permission when you are going to upload a story, upload a profile picture or share a photo or video in a chat.
REASON: so you can upload or take the image/video you want to share right away.
Gallery: when you select the option to share an image or video saved in your gallery to upload it to a Story, send it through chat or change your profile picture.
REASON: so you can access your image gallery and choose the one you want to share.
Location: we ask you for access to your location when you use one of the features that requires sharing your location: Let's meet, Proximity, Aware, Location, when you enter the Band tab.
REASON: so that you can share your location with the contact you select and thus make proper use of the feature.
Contacts: we request access to your contacts when you enter the app for the first time after completing registration.
REASON: So you can see who has ēllu and start a new conversation. Also so you can invite new contacts.
Overlay Permission: we ask for overlay permission to display certain features on top of other apps or on your Lock Screen, such as the Alarm and Timer.
REASON: So when the Timer or Alarm reaches its set time, the notification will appear on top of other apps or on your Lock Screen, so you won't miss it.
