Your privacy comes first, and the app only checks the phone numbers you have in your phonebook to see which ones are registered with ēllu so that it can display them in your contact list by synchronising your contact information when in use. This allows you to use the app to communicate with your contacts.
At no time do we store your contacts' phone numbers in our database, nor do we track or sell your data to third parties. We request this permission solely to optimise your experience when using the app to chat, manage your contacts and use its features.
Remember that you can change the permission to access your contacts at any time in your phone's settings menu under ‘Settings’ and by removing ēllu's permission to access your contacts, but the app will stop working.
What we use your contacts for:
We need access to your contact list so that the app can identify which of your friends are already using ēllu and automatically display them in your chat list. This is the main purpose and the only reason we request this permission: to enable you to communicate with your ēllu contacts without having to add them manually.
What information we read:
The app reads the phone numbers you have stored in your device's address book.
How we use your phone numbers:
Verification: The app only uses your numbers to verify them on our servers and find out which ones match registered ēllu users.
Security: Once verification is complete, we do not store or save your contacts' phone numbers in our database.
Use in the app: This verification is performed when you use the contacts feature to keep your ēllu friends list up to date.
Do we share this information?
We do not sell or share your contacts' phone numbers or any other personal data with third parties for advertising or tracking purposes.
We use the information solely to optimise your experience and enable you to chat and manage your friends within the application.
You can change this permission at any time in your phone's settings. However, please note that if you remove ēllu's permission to access your contacts, the app will no longer be able to show you which of your friends are on the app, and you will not be able to communicate through it.
