What is ēllu chat?
The chat has been created to provide a secure environment that allows our users to share texts, photos, videos, files, voice notes... in a private and encrypted ecosystem. ēllu is a safe haven where everything you say, think, or share will remain only between you and those you communicate with.
The essence of ēllu is precisely to socialize in a secure environment, so we have integrated all the features aimed at social interaction into the chat to make it extremely easy to activate, share and access these features without having to leave the chat.
How do I create a chat?
To create a chat, you have to follow the steps below:
Select the Chat menu 💬 which appears in the second tab at the bottom of the main screen of the app.
Once you have entered the Chat screen:
At the bottom right of the screen select New Chat.
You will enter your contact list, select:
The contact you want to chat with, or.
At the top of the screen select Create new group.
At the top of the screen select Add new contact.
At the bottom right you can also Invite Contacts.
You will be taken back to your list of available contacts.
Select the contact you want to start a chat with.
How do I create a group?
Select the Chat menu 💬 which appears in the second tab at the bottom of the main screen of the app.
At the bottom right of the screen select New Chat.
Select Create new group at the top of the screen.
Select all the contacts you want to be part of that chat group.
At the bottom of the screen select the circular icon with an arrow ➡️.
Enter the name you want to associate with the group chat.
Select the circle with camera to add an image from your image gallery or from your camera (optional).
Select Create new group.
Is there a limited number of contacts for a single group chat?
We have limited the number of contacts for a single chat group to a maximum of 40 to ensure a good experience. We understand that 40 people in one group might be insufficient, so we are working to increase this limit. If you have a group that exceeds this number of contacts, please contact us via the app chat or at ayuda@ellu.app so we can offer you alternatives.
How can I access the features integrated in the chat?
To access the ēllu functionalities in the chat you have to:
Create a chat.
Select the icon with the ē at the bottom inside the chat writing box.
You will enter a bubble where you will find the 7 functionalities: Share location, Let´s Meet, Aware, Contacts, Camera, Gallery, Files (and Proximity if you are in a group chat).
Do I need to select the contacts first or can I activate the functionality from the chat with my contact?
When you activate one of the ēllu functionalities within the chat, you don't have to select the contacts you want to share it with because automatically the functionality is activated for the contact(s) (in case you are in a group chat) of the chat you are in.
Can I see the activities I have been invited to without leaving the chat? Can my contacts see them?
The answer is simple: yes, all the features that are shared by you or your contacts in the chat will be visible and accessible to both parties.
How do I access the camera from the chat?
Enter the chat where you want to send the photo or video.
Select the ➕ icon at the bottom inside the chat's text box.
A bubble with Ellu's functionalities will open. Select the icon labeled "Camera."
For iOS: Swipe with your finger from one side to the other to switch between photo or video.
For Android: Press the white circular button at the bottom of the screen to
take a photo.
You will have the options to:
Take a photo.
Retake the photo.
Cancel the operation.
Send the photo.
How can I access the image gallery from the chat?
Enter the chat in which you want to send the photo or video.
Select the icon with the ➕ at the bottom inside the chat writing box.
A bubble with ēllu functionalities will open. Select the icon labeled Gallery.
You will enter your phone's photo and video library. Choose and, send!
How do I upload a file from the chat?
Enter the chat where you want to send the file.
Select the icon with the ➕ at the bottom inside the chat writing box.
A bubble with ēllu functionalities will open. Slide those functionalities to the left and an icon labeled Files will appear.
You will enter the library containing your phone's files. Currently, only PDF files can be uploaded. Select the PDF you want to send by clicking on it..
How can I access the basic chat functions such as forward, reply, copy, paste, delete...?
To access the basic operational functions of the chat, simply:
Select the text of interest within the chat.
Click on the bubble of that text and hold it down until the options appear at the top for:
Send as Pager: select the hand in the green circle. 👋
Copy: select the two squares
Reply: select the arrow pointing to the left ⬅️
Delete: select the trash can icon 🗑️
Forward: select the arrow pointing to the right ➡️
To access additional chat operational functions such as mute, block, report, delete chat, export chat, etc., follow these steps:
On the chat screen, at the top left you will see an icon composed of 3 consecutive vertical dots. Click on it.
The first options you will see:
Files, Links and Docs.
Search.
Mute notifications
More...
Within More...you will find available
Report.
Block.
Empty Chat.
Export Chat.
How can I delete a group?
By clicking on the chat you can: leave the group, archive it or mute the notifications.
If you still belong to the group you can only archive it. To delete a group, you must leave the group first.
