What is Proximity for?

Proximity is the feature that allows you to see where your contacts are on a map and communicate with them quickly and easily. It works simply and unobtrusively: Proximity lets you send an invitation to your contacts, and only those who accept will appear on the map. You can then see their location, and by selecting a contact on the map, you can chat, send a Find, and get directions to them.

How can I activate Proximity?

When you are inside an individual or group chat.:

  1. Select the icon with the ➕ at the bottom inside the chat writing box.

  2. A menu will be displayed where you will find 8 function icons.

  3. Select the purple icon labeled Proximity ☸️

  4. Select Activate to start.

To ensure your location is shared correctly, remember to check that you have a GPS signal and that it is enabled on your device.

How does Proximity work?

Once you have activated the feature, the contacts of that chat group will receive a notification in the form of an alert that they can Accept or Deny.

Your contacts' Band will vibrate 4 times and stay lit for 5 seconds in green to notify them that they have received an invitation to this feature.

If they accept the alert they will appear on the Proximity map you sent. If they decline the invitation or do not accept it, they will not appear on the map.

Once on the map, you will have the following options:

You will be able to see on the map all the contacts within the chat that accepted your Proximity. By selecting them you can:

  • Set the route to them.

  • Send them a Pager.

  • Chat with them.

Proximity Status

Within Proximity, I can check the status of all participants from the dropdown in the bottom bar.

Each contact appears with an avatar accompanied by a colored dot indicating their real-time status:

  1. Grey with blurred avatar
→ The user has accepted Proximity but has not yet sent their first location.

  2. Yellow (inactive)
→ The user is not sharing their location at that moment.

  3. Green (active)
→ The user is sharing their location correctly.
Exception: Green with an exclamation mark.

    • This indicates that Proximity is enabled, but the location is not accurate.

    • On the map, a halo appears around the avatar (the larger it is, the lower the accuracy).

This dropdown allows me to quickly see who is active, who isn’t sharing their location, and the location accuracy of each participant.
