If your location is not displayed accurately within a Circle, it is usually due to your device settings, location permissions, or environmental conditions.
We recommend checking the following:
1. Update ēllu
Make sure you have the latest version of the app installed. Each update includes improvements related to location accuracy and performance.
2. Check your location permissions
ēllu needs access to your location so it can share it with the members of your Circles.
Make sure that:
Location Services (GPS) are enabled.
ēllu has permission to access your location All the time, not just while you're using the app.
This permission is only used to enable ēllu's location features and for no other purpose. If you'd like to learn more about how we use this permission, please read our About Location Permission article.
3. Enable Precise Location
Many devices allow you to choose between approximate and precise location.
Make sure Precise Location is enabled for ēllu, as it significantly improves your location accuracy.
4. Check your internet connection
ēllu requires a stable internet connection to update your location in real time.
We recommend that you:
Keep mobile data or Wi-Fi enabled.
Make sure you have an active internet connection and, if you're not on an unlimited data plan, that you still have data available.
5. Disable Battery Saver
Some battery-saving modes restrict apps from running in the background.
If Battery Saver is enabled, your location may stop updating correctly.
If you don't want to disable it completely, add ēllu to the list of apps excluded from battery optimization.
6. Allow ēllu to run in the background
To continuously share your location, ēllu needs to be able to run even when the app isn't open.
Check your device settings to make sure background activity is enabled for ēllu.
7. Consider your surroundings
Location accuracy also depends on your environment. It is normal for your location to be less accurate in places such as:
Buildings or indoor spaces.
Basements or underground parking garages.
Areas with poor network coverage.
Places with tall buildings or other obstacles that interfere with the GPS signal.
How can I tell if my location accuracy is low?
Within a Circle, your location status is indicated by the color of your avatar.
🟢 Green with an exclamation mark: Your location is being shared, but its accuracy is not optimal.
A halo will appear around your avatar on the map. The larger the halo, the lower your location accuracy at that moment.
