Does sharing my location use battery?
Any app that shares your location needs some battery to work. How much depends mainly on:
How much you move: when you’re on the go, your location changes more often.
Your signal: with weak GPS or network signal, your phone needs more power to find you.
Your phone: the model and battery health also play a part.
Can I use battery saver mode?
We recommend not turning it on for ēllu. Some battery saver modes stop apps from running in the background, so your location may stop updating.
Android: apps have battery optimization turned on by default. Open ēllu’s battery settings and select Unrestricted. The name of this option may vary depending on the model.
iPhone: Low Power Mode reduces background activity for all apps, so your location may update less often while it’s on.
How can I save battery without ēllu stopping working?
Keep ēllu up to date. Every version includes performance improvements.
Check which other apps use your location in the background and limit the ones that don’t need it.
Keep Precise Location on for ēllu. Turning it off isn’t worth it: your Circle would see your location less accurately.
Does it use mobile data?
Yes. To share your location, ēllu needs an internet connection, either mobile data or Wi-Fi. It also works on Wi-Fi only, even without a SIM card, but your location will only update while you’re connected.
If you’re not on an unlimited data plan, make sure you still have data available. And if you’re travelling abroad, check your carrier’s roaming conditions.
How can I see how much battery and data ēllu uses?
From your phone settings:
iPhone: Settings > Battery, and Settings > Mobile Data.
Android: in the Battery and Data usage sections of your settings. Names may vary depending on the model.
