What happens to the ēllu Band on iOS if the app is not running in the background?

The ēllu app must remain active in the background on iOS to prevent the ēllu Band from disconnecting from the phone.

Why does the ēllu Band disconnect on iOS when the app is not running in the background?

The ēllu Band requires the ēllu app to be active (either in the foreground or running in the background) to stay connected to an iPhone.

If the app is fully closed or iOS prevents it from running in the background, the Band will disconnect from the phone.

When this happens, the Band will notify you with a vibration and will try to reconnect automatically for about 20 minutes.

If it is unable to reconnect after that time, it will vibrate again to let you know that it is still disconnected and it will have to be added again manually.

For this reason, it’s important to make sure the operating system does not restrict the app while using the ēllu Band.

On iOS (iPhone)

  • Make sure ēllu is allowed to send notifications
Settings > Notifications > ēllu > Allow Notifications.

  • Ensure Background App Refresh is enabled
Settings > General > Background App Refresh > ēllu.

  • Avoid manually closing the ēllu app from the app switcher while using the Band.
