How do I create a chat?
To create a chat, you have to follow the steps below:
Select the Chat 💬 menu, which appears in the second tab at the bottom of the app’s main screen.
Once you are on the Chat screen:
Press the + button to create a new chat:
Android: bottom right corner
iOS: top right corner
You will enter your list of contacts. Select:
The contact you want to chat with, or
At the top, select Create New Group to start a group chat.
To add a new contact:
At the top of the screen, select Add New Contact.
To invite people:
At the bottom right, select Invite Contacts.
After that, you will return to your list of available contacts.
Select the contact with whom you want to start a chat.
How do I create a group?
Select the Chat 💬 menu in the second tab at the bottom of the main screen.
Press the + button to create a new chat:
Android: bottom right corner
iOS: top right corner
Select Create New Group at the top of the screen.
Select all the contacts you want to include in the group.
At the bottom of the screen, select the circular icon with an arrow ➡️.
Enter the name of the group.
Select the circle with a camera to add a group image (optional).
Finally, select Create New Group.
Is there a limited number of contacts for a single group chat?
We have limited the number of contacts for a single chat group to a maximum of 40 to ensure a good experience. We understand that 40 people in one group might be insufficient, so we are working to increase this limit. If you have a group that exceeds this number of contacts, please contact us via the app chat or at ayuda@ellu.app so we can offer you alternatives.
How do I add or remove participants to a group?
If you have already created a group and you want to add or remove participants, you can do it in the following way:
From the group chat, click on the group name.
The group profile screen will appear, and in the participants section:
Select Add new participant if you want someone to join the group.
If you want to remove them, press and hold on the name of the user you want to remove, Remove user option will appear.
Note that in order to add or remove users in a group you must be an administrator of the group. To add someone as an administrator, you can do so by accessing the group's profile, press and hold on the contact's name and choose Make group admin option.
How do I delete a group?
If you are a member of a group, you cannot delete it directly — you can only archive it.
To delete a group, you must first leave the group, and then you will be able to delete it.
On iOS
Long press on the group chat.
Select Leave group.
After leaving the group, long press the chat again.
Select Delete.
On Android
Long press on the group chat.
Tap the trash icon in the top bar to Leave the group.
Once you have left the group, long press the chat again.
Tap the trash icon again to Delete it permanently.
