How do I create a chat?

To create a chat, you have to follow the steps below:

  1. Select the Chat menu 💬 which appears in the second tab at the bottom of the main screen of the app.

  2. Once you have entered the Chat screen:

    1. At the bottom right of the screen select New Chat.

    2. You will enter your contact list, select:

      1. The contact you want to chat with, or.

      2. At the top of the screen select Create new group.

      3. At the top of the screen select Add new contact.

      4. At the bottom right you can also Invite Contacts.

  3. You will be taken back to your list of available contacts.

  4. Select the contact you want to start a chat with.


How do I create a group?

  1. Select the Chat menu 💬 which appears in the second tab at the bottom of the main screen of the app.

  2. At the bottom right of the screen select New Chat.

  3. Select Create new group at the top of the screen.

  4. Select all the contacts you want to be part of that chat group.

  5. At the bottom of the screen select the circular icon with an arrow ➡️.

  6. Enter the name you want to associate with the group chat.

  7. Select the circle with camera to add an image from your image gallery or from your camera (optional).

  8. Select Create new group.



Is there a limited number of contacts for a single group chat?

We have limited the number of contacts for a single chat group to a maximum of 40 to ensure a good experience. We understand that 40 people in one group might be insufficient, so we are working to increase this limit. If you have a group that exceeds this number of contacts, please contact us via the app chat or at ayuda@ellu.app so we can offer you alternatives.


How do I add or remove participants to a group?

If you have already created a group and you want to add or remove participants, you can do it in the following way:

  • From the group chat, click on the group name.

  • The group profile screen will appear, and in the participants section:

    • Select Add new participant if you want someone to join the group.

    • If you want to remove them, press and hold on the name of the user you want to remove, Remove user option will appear.

Note that in order to add or remove users in a group you must be an administrator of the group. To add someone as an administrator, you can do so by accessing the group's profile, press and hold on the contact's name and choose Make group admin option.



How can I delete a group?

By clicking on the chat you can: leave the group, archive it or mute the notifications.

If you still belong to the group you can only archive it. To delete a group, you must leave the group first.
